El Chavo del Ocho (also known as "El Chavo") is a Mexican television series that gained huge popularity in Latin America, Spain, and the United States. The series focuses on the adventures and tribulations of the character of El Chavo - a poor orphan played by the show's creator, Roberto Gómez Bolaños and other residents of a housing complex.The spectacle of El Chavo del Ocho back in 1972, where he appeared as a sketch on the show "Chespirito" produced by the "Independent Television of Mexico", broadcast on Channel 8 in Mexico, XHTIM-TV (now known as XEQ- TV, Galavision). In 1975, El Chavo del Ocho moved to Televisa and became a weekly half-hour series. The program was canceled in 1980, but production short sections even occur until 1992.
